Subtle Dishonesty

My ancient Aunt has received a quote for some house maintenance. Cost something like $7, 356.00 +GST.

'Good,' thought she, 'I can do this!'

However when we added the GST it was almost another $1,000.

What did the Quantity Surveyor see when he came to my Aunt?

An 85 year old spinster who would swallow whatever he came up with?
I suspect so and it makes me so indignant!
(She had in fact already figured that it would be quite a bit extra.)

My point is, to quote without including the GST amount seems quite dishonest to me. The quote should be what the customer has to pay, that should be the amount, on all occasions, put before the client.

GST is NOT an optional extra! It must be quoted and not left for the client to work out!
GRRRRRR
